Cardwell and Ingham courses are held approximately one weekend per month, usually alternating the days between towns.
OPTION 1: WHOLE DAY, FACE TO FACE COURSE
The theory is done with the instructor as well as the practical. Face to face has more local information. Cardwell Boat Licences is one of the few providers still doing face to face. This suits many learners including those who find looking and listening easier than reading a screen. However, if you like the screen see Option 2.
OPTION 2: WEB BASED THEORY, FACE TO FACE TESTING AND PRACTICAL
You can do the theory learning online. Online is more time flexible. Students who have done it this way report it takes maybe 5 hours to complete. For web based theory I can recommend

Do the course and there is a web test at the end of the online course to show the computer is happy you did it properly: this is not the government theory test which you do later. I don't run the website, you pay them directly ($15).
Ring Gordon for the date and time of the next practical tests at Cardwell or Lucinda. Bring the completion certificate with you or email it to my address below. Come by 12 o'clock and we are usually finished by 4 or 5 o'clock depending on numbers. The web based certificate is valid for three months.

Both Options: you will do the government theory test under supervision by me, and then the practical training and testing. After the practical test you get your Statement of Competency.

NEW TO BOATING?
Maritime Safety Queensland has a good workbook for beginners. You may wish to download it and study Chapters 1 to 6, especially Chapter 4. Don't print it out as it needs colour and is more than 80 pages long but read it on screen and, if you wish, attempt the questions at the end of each chapter.

This is not a requirement but a handy resource. You don't need to bring the questions and answers to the course, just the knowledge in your head.
